On the most beautiful summer evening, Sarah and Dan had their engagement photo shoot in York close to Castle Howard. We arrived at the woodland as golden hour began, which is the time just before sundown. On a sunny day, this time of the day is simply my favourite time to plan an engagement photo shoot as the light is simply everything!
This location is a firm favourite of mine for family and pre-wedding photo shoots near York. It’s always peaceful and there are a lot of places to explore. Sarah and Dan loved the setting so much that it’s now become a special place for them to visit too!
We had so much fun capturing these special moments before the couple’s wedding which was held the following September at Sarah’s family home and Tickton Church, near Hull. Engagement sessions are a great way to feel more comfortable in front of the camera before your big day.
“Emma just WOW! We are just completely over the moon – our photos are absolutely stunning! THANK YOU! I can’t wait for the day and for you to capture it for us. I had such anxiety over having my photograph taken and you put me completely at ease. I can’t put in words what they mean.”

If you’re planning an engagement photo shoot in York, I have so many location recommendations depending on the season. We can also head to a location that’s special to you as a couple, or as Sarah and Dan did, make new memories in a new place.
