Grays Court is firmly in my top two venues for a luxury wedding in York. The luxury venue is tucked away from the busy crowds down a quaint, cobbled street which is overlooked by York Minster. You could call me biased as my husband and I got married there in 2014, but so many agree that there is something incredibly special about this venue. Maybe it’s the history of kings and queens who have stayed there, or maybe it’s that every detail of your wedding day is beautifully considered and made personal by the Heraty family.

On Mandy and Wayne’s wedding day, they were blessed with sunshine and opted for an outdoor ceremony in the gardens and a chic, black-tie reception to follow. After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed a string quartet, as I borrowed the newly-weds for a few quiet moments to capture their bridal portraits. I love to whisk my brides and grooms off soon after the ceremony for a few precious minutes alone to take in the moment. It’s also the perfect time for me to capture those beautiful, intimate moments between just the two of them.

The beauty of Grays Court means you don’t have to venture too far from the party for stunning bridal portraits – there are beautiful details which are rich in history around each corner. The gardens at Grays are fringed by the famous York City Walls and often passers-by take a few moments out of their day to people-watch… especially when there is a wedding at Grays!

An evening of feasting in the Long Gallery, followed by dancing and delicious cocktails, which was the perfect end to a perfect day.
