I’m excited to share Lucy’s newborn baby photography collection which was captured in my home studio located in North Yorkshire between York and Malton. As the very first newborn to be welcomed into the new studio space, it was wonderful to use the natural light to capture these precious moments of Baby M at 4 weeks old as he cuddled into Mum and interacted with his new big brother.
Where is the studio based?
I offer newborn baby photography in the York area. My studio is situated in a rural village between York and Malton and offers a welcoming space for newborn, maternity and first year cake smash portraits.
What makes your style of newborn and motherhood photography different?
I am passionate about capturing and celebrating family connection in my work and love to focus on subtle, yet beautiful interactions. I use natural light for a softness which works so well with capturing the preciousness of a newborn and highlighting the femininity of motherhood. My style is very relaxed which translates into the photographs I create.
When should I book a newborn session for?
I recommend booking your session for when your baby is 1-4 weeks old. As babies change at a quick pace, it’s great to capture their portraits early so you can remember how tiny they once were.
What should I wear for a newborn photo shoot?
Deciding on what to wear is an important part of planning for your session, but don’t fear I am here to help and guide you. I love the simplicity of white outfits for newborns – it helps create a timeless feel. I also love long, flowing maxi dresses for Mum or a cosy knit in the cooler months as a relaxed feel. If you are bringing little ones to your session, it’s best to dress them in coordinating colours too for a curated look. And Dad? Well chinos and a smart top is a classic look.
Say yes to neutrals, greys, blues, sage greens, tan and white and avoid yellows, black, red, harsh colours and patterns / logos.
