Last week I had the great privilege of capturing Laura and Mark’s wedding at the ever beautiful, Howsham Hall near York. I always count myself incredibly lucky to witness and capture weddings and Laura and Mark’s was no different. There’s a certain magic in the air at weddings – a mixture of anticipation, excitement, and energy – I love to capture it all!
We were blessed with blue skies in the morning and the light was streaming through Howsham Hall’s Jacobean windows. As a natural light photographer, you’ll always catch me gently steering you to the best light, so Howsham really is a dream venue for me to shoot in. I love the contrast of light in the venue which adds interest to your final collection of photographs from luminant bridal portraits in the suite to the moody tones of the impressive stairway.
If you’ve ever been lucky enough to visit the hall, you’ll perhaps have ventured into the impressive bridal suite? Laura’s bridal preparations took place in there which was a buzz of excitement and anticipation with her best girl gang in-situ. Her glam-squad from Bridal Hair by Lauren and Claire Flint Make-up quietly worked their magic as I captured the morning preparations. There was a soft glow from the sunlight outside cast over the bridal suite and laughter echoed throughout the room as we eagerly anticipated the day ahead.
I had a moment to catch Mark, alone and with his groomsmen which was super lovely and relaxed as they awaited the arrival of the wedding guests.
Why do you love capturing wedding photography at Howsham Hall? I love to capture wedding photography at Howsham Hall for its historic charm and picturesque landscape which provide dreamy backdrops. There are quiet corners throughout the hall, each steeped in history which offer unique locations for bridal portraits and the central courtyard is ideal for formal group shots if its a little windy. I’m also lucky to be a local wedding supplier as I live only 2 miles away and I’m often capturing outdoor family photography sessions in the surrounding woodlands. See more here.
If you’re planning your wedding and would like a relaxed photography style which captures your day as it unfolds, I’d love to hear from you. As a female York wedding photographer, I’m all about the detail. I use subtle directions to help perfect your bridal portraits and you’ll always catch me breaking the ice so you feel super at ease and relaxed. It’s so important to me that you enjoy your day and are free to enjoy each moment so I work efficiently to get your back to the party. I take care of the little things and work closely with your co-ordinator and videographer so your day runs smoothly – you’re in safe hands.
Hi Emma, I just wanted to say again thank you so so much for yesterday – you were absolutely amazing, particularly at dealing with some very changeable weather. It wouldn’t have been the same without you, thank you for making the day so lovely for us, not just with the images you captured but just being lovely you! xxxxx
