I launched Little Sixpence Photography in 2016 with one main goal; creating beautiful photographs in a timeless style which focuson connection alongside exceptional customer service. This goal still stands firmly for me today and the past seven years in business have been everything I could have wished for and more! The creativity photography allows me is fulfilling, joyful and is more than just a job to me.
All those years ago when I was deciding upon my brand name for Little Sixpence Photography I chose ‘Little’ to represent childhood and ‘Sixpence’ to represent the lucky sixpence brides are traditionally gifted before walking down the aisle.
Over the years I have developed a stronger sense of the creative direction which no longer aligned with my former brand name. So, with the incredible guidance from Johanna at Ela House Studio’s we created the new visionary board (what creative doesn’t live for one of those!) to begin the process of rebranding.
Having my first name within my rebrand was an easy decision but I felt my surname would be too formal for the personal service and products I create.
For me, it’s not just about creating beautiful imagery and a highly considered service though; it’s about preserving moments in time which can be passed down the generations and provide context and of course, conversation. You could say the photographic collections are like receiving a little ‘ray of sunshine’ – and there I had it, Emma Raye was born.
My rebrand also coincided with the launch of my York based photography studio where I offer natural and simplistic portraits for maternity, newborn baby’s and first year milestones to include cake smashes and sitter sessions (captured at 7 months plus). The studio has been purposely built and designed to offer a welcoming escape to clients seeking professional photographs which preserve the magic of family-life. Located between Malton and York in North Yorkshire Emma Raye Studio is filled with flattering natural light, diffused with soft flowing materials and has select pieces of furniture for a curated and inviting setting to capture family portraits.
A huge thank you to the following small businesses who supported and guided me during my rebrand. You really are a dream team!
Capturing amazing photographs is all about connection; from connecting on a friendship level with my clients to documenting their unbreakable bonds with one another. I create heartfelt photographs which are more than just pictures – they are your story. I can think of no greater joy than capturing the unforgettable chapters of my clients’ lives.
